Ambassadors of Love (Identity in Christ Part 5)

We are God’s Ambassadors of Love

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples, John 13:35.

An Ambassador is defined as:  1. a diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his or her own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment 2.a : an authorized representative or messenger b : an unofficial representative traveling abroad as ambassadors of goodwill.

Ambassadors have a great assignment. We are God’s Ambassador’s of love. We are citizens of heaven and citizens of our country of natural birth. The role of ambassadors are to protect citizens, promote prosperity, justice, and promote peace. An ambassador works to ensure that the interests of their country are being protected in the country in which they work, ~online sources.

As God’s Ambassadors of love we are here on earth representing our Father. We bring heaven to earth. How might you ask. Here are some examples.

1. We love people. Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect, Matt 5:43-48. We love our enemies by feeding them if they are hungry, clothing them if they are naked, by blessing and not cursing, and choosing to do no harm.

2. We serve. Matthew 25:31-46.

The Sheep and the Goats

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

We don’t serve out of obligation but out of love. When are truly walking in our identity we want to help people and serve. We want to do for others what God would do for them.

3. We do what Jesus told the disciples to do.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give, Matthew 10:8.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation, Mark 16:15.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world,~James 1:27.

Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow, ~Isaiah 1:17.

Jesus told the disciples to make other disciples. He told them to preach the gospel, heal the sick, drive out evil spirits, take care of orphans and widows. He calls us to pursue justice for the oppressed. We are called to do the same things as Jesus did.

We are citizens of heaven. May we live in our God-given identity and accomplish His will on earth. We are here for a reason. We are empowered by His Spirit to be more than conquerors in Christ who loves us.

“Abba help us to live a life of purpose. Help us to walk in the authority you have given us through your precious Son. Thank you for all you have done! In Jesus name, Amen.”
