When the Message is Ignored (The Shaking)

Certainly weigh & test this (Prophetic Word on the Shaking). I believe God does give us insight into what is coming. If we listen and pay attention, God helps us not to be blindsighted. I have warning dreams quite a bit or warning impressions. I have heard people say God only speaks happy, shiny things. I disagree. I am alive today because God warns of things to come so we can prepare or move out of the way.

When God sends a message or messenger we ignore…

I continue to inquire of God why He sends messengers to people He knows will not listen. Is it so they have no excuse? To give them a chance knowing they will ignore it? God knows their hearts will be hard and refuse to listen. “Oh, that’s just Joseph’s son.”

Years ago I had this impression to do 90 straight days of truly focused prayer for the world. A shaking was coming. I tried to get others to join in with me. Only one or two people would. We also had several burn events 8-12 hours of straight prayer and worship and only a handful would come. It was not to glorify me, it was because an alarm had been sounded. I was essentially ignored by quite a few people. Who is this person to send a warning? Who wants to give up their time? Who wants to push away a plate? 90 days is a long time to go without certain things-that’s 40 times over 2.

Shaking did come, has come, and continues (scandals revealed, crazy weather, mass shootings, insane weather events, metoo and churchtoo movement, church leaders exposed, celebrities exposed, churches exposed, and so much more). God is not causing the bad things to happen, part of the prayer warning was “Prepare for what’s coming.”

There are people who believe God only speaks through His already written word, and others who believe God only speaks happy, shiny, bless them, encouraging words. So there is an ignoring of anything that talks about prepare for a shaking, prepare for disaster, this is going to head south…any warning is ignored.

People ignored Noah, they ignored Jesus…I ask God why not just send a message to those who will listen?

God gave Joseph an interpretation to a dream to save nations. What if Pharaoh had not listened and refused to store up grain for 7 years. Seven years of feasting, then 7 years of famine. Well, everyone would have starved to death.

I love happy, shiny, encouraging words. Who doesn’t like to walk away thinking roses and skipping through the park? Yet the reality is God will warn His friends, “A famine is coming. Watch out. This is not safe. Don’t link arms with this person. This is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Don’t go there. You need to save. Don’t get on that plane.”

Before 9/11 we were supposed to be flying on that day. I did not want to. I could not explain why. I simply knew I did not want to be in the air during that time. I am glad someone listened. We ended up flying days before to Disney World.

The shaking will continue. Certainly weigh it, test it, and talk to God yourself…This is just what I sense…

False prophets and false preachers will be exposed. God’s next wave will move through the pure in heart not the ministers who care nothing about the sheep; they only care about themselves, only care about their platform, only care about their ministry. What has been done in the dark (injustices, abuse, gross sin) will continue to bubble to the surface and be brought into the light. If you are living a double life, repent. Those who worship false gods will find their false gods cannot save them. Churches that refuse the work and leading of the Holy Spirit will notice God is moving powerfully in places where God is allowed to do as He pleases-even street corners. God will continue to recruit harvesters to go after those who need to know Him. Pillars of strength and prophetic pillars will rise from out of obscurity to be frontline leaders in His movement. The sleepy, passive, it’s only about me and mine, being comfortable, lukewarm church will be left to slumber while Jesus partners with those willing to do whatever it takes to love a lost, broken, and hurting world. Those who cry out for revival yet are unwilling to do anything God asks are wasting precious time. Those unwilling to do anything not led by their local church or clique will notice God is moving powerfully outside their bubble. God does not have numerous separate and disconnected bodies; God has one church, one Body, and Jesus is king. Those who worship themselves will be given opportunities to repent and refocus on the true agenda; Jesus. Love will be pivotal and instrumental; unity across boundary lines. Sense God longing for churches to work together for a common good and not just the pastors and leaders they want to support because that’s their buddy or in their network or stream. God’s vision is higher and His agenda is not division. Jesus is returning for a Bride who is radiant. Instead of critical finger pointing at someone else, sense the encouragement to invite the Holy Spirit to examine our hearts. Are we lukewarm? Are we only interested in our agenda? Are we abiding in Jesus and learning to love like God?

I sense the shaking will continue. Encouragement to pray those shaken do not lose hope or fall away; compromise and throw in the towel. Pray those who claim Jesus have a deep revelation of who Jesus really is and follow Him (not traditions of man, not ego, not personal agenda). Please pray we listen to the Holy Spirit. I am not asking people to listen to me or follow what I sense, but to earnestly seek God. “God what are you saying? I want to listen. My ears are open. Show me how to pray. Please don’t allow me to be passive, lukewarm, or miss what you desire to do on this earth. It’s not my kingdom come. It’s your Kingdom come. People are dying without knowing you. Help me to listen and partner with you.”

Behold a New Thing (Refocus on Jesus-The Centrality of the Gospel)-Prophetic Encouragement

I don’t share prophetic impressions on this page often, yet felt promoted to today. It’s long, yet hope it encourages/inspires someone to seek Jesus, not “That’s how we have always done things or my pastor told me this.”

Behold I am doing a new thing (prophetic encouragement)

Certainly weigh this and test it. These were impressions on my heart and in my spirit from Jesus, Holy Spirit, and the Father.

From the Father:

“I am shifting from the old into the new. I look upon the earth and see billions of people disconnected from My heart and disconnected from the church. While My church may be pointing her finger at the world, ‘Look how sinful you are,’ My heart has been grieved by the lack of My love and compassion for the lost. Yes, they are blind and deaf to truth because they are dead in tresspasses and sin. The dead cannot see. The dead cannot hear. There is a powerful language that even the dead can see and hear, that is My love. I invite My church to not only speak truth, but to love and to serve. Love is your superpower.

My Spirit is hovering over the earth looking for laborers, partners-someone willing to take up the mantle of love and go for My mission of love. My Spirit is looking for those willing to go into the dark places. Gone are the days of just waiting for the world to come inside.

You must go. You must go where the people are, where the broken and hurting are, and you must love. You are not going to the happy, shiny, together people. You are going to the sick, hurting, dying, addicted, broken, immoral, demonized, and abused. They need My love and My power. It is not by your strength, your wisdom, your intellect, nor your religious rituals. It is by My Spirit.

I am looking for those willing to abide in My Spirit and go where I lead. No more business as usual-this is the way we have always done church, the way we have always done conferences, the way we have always done worship, the way we have always taught people…get into the secret place and seek Me for the new.

I am doing something NEW! I am doing something new to bring millions into My family. I want to teach you an upgraded way to relate to the world. It involves no compromise; it is pure/holy as I am pure/holy. It will stretch you outside your comfort zone. It will break people out of sitting and waiting, sitting and praying for Me to do what I have empowered My church to do.

I am cleaning My house. Yes, your spirits are made completely new in My Son. The soul of man is continually sanctified by My Spirit. I am clearing out those abusing My sheep, allowing exposure of those who do not love My sheep, closing doors to those only interested in their agenda and titles, I am removing favor from those using the gifts for selfish gain. I am doing these things out of great love because I need a safe place for the harvest. Not only do I need laborers, I need safe havens and families for My children. My babies need spiritual families, not to be led to pray a prayer and then left alone without any guidance, without genuine love, without true shepherding. I am building family systems that are safe.

Seek Me for the new. Seek Me for My agenda for your services and conferences. It’s about establishing My Kingdom on earth, not mankind building their own shrines on earth nor entertaining people without helping them to truly know Me. I watch as millions are entertained and they go home with the very same demons they came with and they remain in great bondage. My Son set the captives free.

Seek Me for your ministry. Seek Me for your family. Seek Me for your business. I do not encourage to control. I encourage because I am strategically connecting people in this season to be a great net for the masses. I am pursuing a mature Bride. No more their church vs. your church, their ministry vs. your ministry…competition is not a fruit of My heart. The evil one loves division, jealousy, and single/selfish focus.

If My people who are called by My name would humble themselves and help each other fulfill the great commission, revival would have already come.

The world is looking at how My professing children love and support each other. If they do not see what My Son proclaimed, their desire to come inside is even more diminished.

I will be glorified in the earth. If those I have chosen refuse to follow the leading of My Spirit, I will and can go and appoint one from outside to lead My movements. My Son will get His full reward.”

From Jesus:

“Oh how I love My Bride and long to partner with her to see the fullness of My Kingdom on earth. The encouragement is to continually abide in Me, to crawl into My arms, and listen to My voice. I lead by great love. The love I have for you is the same intense, passionate love I have for your neighbor, the lost, and even those who present themselves as your enemies. So many do not know Me in your weekend services and in the world. Sharing and demonstrating who I am is needed everywhere.

My heart weeps over those who believe they know Me yet, they harm, abuse, or deceive My sheep. Like the Pharisees, they have their rules, rituals, and religion, yet they miss My heart. They have a form of righteousness, yet, it is void of My love, void of My compassion, and void of godly mercy. Yes, I am truth. Yes, I am power. I am also love. I know the proper words to speak to turn a heart, prick a heart for the Father. Ministering outside of My heart and Spirit can lead to harm instead of blessing.

I have watched millions of My children wounded by those claiming Me, yet their hearts are far from Me. I reserve My final judgement until the appointed time. I did not come to condemn, pass final judgement, but to lead people to repentance. I am standing in a position of invitation for repentance for those who do not love yet continue to attempt to minister in My name. Come away with Me and soak in My love. Let Me love you! Let My love invigorate you so you may love like Me.

I am looking for lovers, those willing to abide in My love and willing to go love the world! I am so eager to partner with you!”

From Holy Spirit:

“I am so excited. Can you sense My excitement as I think on the waves of love, glory, and passion that will sweep over the earth?!

I am hovering. I am moving. Sons and daughters will prophesy. I will speak through the babes/youth all the way up to the 100 year olds. I am blowing a breath of refreshing. I am blowing the dust off those who have been sidelined.

I love unity and partnership. I love community and family. I love to see people working together to fulfill the Father’s will. Oh, how He loves the world. We are in unison in our heart for the world.

I am beyond eager to fill the empty and broken, to revitalize the weary, and comfort the mourning. I am speaking, singing, teaching, and on the edge of My seat for those who hunger and thirst for Me.

Invite Me into what you are doing. I am not asking to seek to control. I am asking you to invite Me because I desire to give you My power to complete the task.

I do not force Myself on you, nor push My agenda on you. When you ask, when you invite, I manifest My power and love!! I love to assist you. I love to abide in you. I love to connect with you!

Let’s partner together. I long to empower, encourage, and give you My strength. You are not alone in your journey. I am here. I am strong where you are weak. I long to connect spirit to spirit with you. Invite Me into your day. I am overjoyed to be with you.

I want to teach you more of who I am and show you the depths of our heart. I am refreshing you and longing to break you out of the old and into the new.

Old mindsets must be removed and I long to wash your mind with My word. Invite Me into your bible study. I long to deepen your understanding of My word and who I am. Do not lean onto your own understanding, seek My understanding. Study with Me.

I am excited to adventure with you and for the entire world to know who Jesus is and what the Father paid for regarding humanity. Let’s partner together!! I LOVE you.”

My Thoughts:

I truly believe God is calling us into something great, Himself. I highly encourage people to get to know God for themselves instead of simply relying on second hand information. I also encourage inviting God into every day, into Bible study, and to ask God to reveal Himself.

I have met so many people in my lifetime who claim to know God and represent God; they absolutely violate His heart. They repeat what they have been taught without revelation of who God is. We need Jesus, the real Jesus of Nazareth. We need to pursue God for ourselves and learn His voice. The early apostles had relationship. The New Testament was not even written yet and they knew Jesus. God is after relationship, not rituals and memorization of text. It is great to know the Bible. One can know the Bible and not know God. The Pharisees knew the Torah, they did not know God.

My hope is this post encourages someone to go deeper into intimacy with God. Don’t just take my word for it, invite God into your heart and life. Invite the Holy Spirit to teach and guide, even to weed out thoughts or ideas that have been taught that are not properly aligned with the heart of God.

Love,

Erin Lamb

Insecurity is Not Humility

Humility is a right assessment of oneself in relation to God. It is not self abasement nor “I am but a wretched worm.” It is not arrogance, “I am better than others.”

Jesus possessed humility and confidence. He could get low and wash feet. He could also stand in the synagogue and declare the words of Isaiah 61. He stated, “Today this scripture is fulfilled.” He stood bold and confident against the Pharisees. He did not shrink back and claim false humility.

The truth is, Jesus knew who He was in relation to the Father. When He prayed, it was with sincere confidence that God the Father heard His plea. Jesus is our model. Jesus is perfect theology.

I am pursuing doing a two day Confident & Free event because I believe God is raising up a company of believers who know who He is and know who they are in Him.

In Christ we are not less than nor better than; we are redeemed children of God. We are joint heirs. We are His workmanship created for His glory. Insecurity brings no glory to God! It is the flip side of pride.

False humility brings no glory to God, “Let’s pretend we are not who God says we are so others think we are humble.” God wants to free us of agreement with the devil. The devil approached Jesus and said, “If you are the Son of God.” Jesus knew who He was and responded in confidence, “It is written.”

Speakers for the Confident & Free Event will be announced this month! Whooohoooo! Instead of people coming to listen to me speak at 3-4 sessions a day for 2 days, I wanted to give others a chance to share their experiences with gaining godly confidence and freedom.

God has continued to press into my heart a need for people to see themselves as He does; not arrogant and not insecure. I sense and often see confusion over what it means to be confident and deal with numerous people in soul healing sessions who hate themselves, hide, feel bad about who they are, or a few have grandiose ideas about who they are. God intends we live in balance, and love ourselves in healthy ways. We love our neighbor AS we love ourselves.

We will have 7-8 speakers, 7 sessions, 2 panel discussions (you can ask questions), and a wonderful/intimate prophetic worship team.

The focus of day 1 is FREEDOM. Let’s break out of legalism, limiting mindsets, tear down religious strongholds, get the soul and body healed, dream BIGGER with God. I am carving out space for extended ministry time. Need healing, come! Our prayer teams would love to pray for your soul or body healing.

Day 2 is focused on confidence. What does it mean to be confident? Is confidence arrogance? What does it mean to be loving and bold? We want to talk about how to have an intimate relationship with God, hear and test His voice, step out of the boat with Jesus, properly understand and use authority, and share real testimonies of overcoming with Jesus.

The plan is to pour into those who attend. The mission is love. The mission is Jesus. The mission is getting people activated to move beyond just going to listen to someone else speak and do the works of Jesus. The works of Jesus are not just for some people or a select elite. It’s for every person who places their faith in Him!

In Christ you can see the sick healed!

In Christ you can share and preach the Gospel!

In Christ you can see people delivered from tormenting spirits!

In Christ you can love the broken!

In Christ you can make disciples!!

You can! You can! Oh yes you can!!

Jesus said, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” We, those who follow and abide in Jesus, have empowerment by God to do even GREATER! If you don’t know Jesus, come, we would LOVE to share who He is and how much He loves you.

I hope you join us for two days of jam packed teaching, activations (you get to participate-not just watch us do the stuff), worship, laughter, giveaways, ministry time, prayer, equipping, mentoring, and hopefully answering some questions you may have!!

Come party with us for 2 full days and invite some friends. Right now tickets are discounted to $89. That is roughly $10-12 a session. We also don’t plan on taking up offerings-people can donate to a charity represented there or speaker, yet I won’t be passing the plate to cover event costs. You will also have an opportunity to hear about human trafficking and support being part of the solution.

  • When is it? May 17 and 18, 2019
    • Sessions: 9 am, 2 pm, and 7 pm (mid day sessions have more than one speaker)
    • Where is it? 1055 McNaughten Road, Columbus Ohio 43213
  • Use the coupon code: EarlyBird
    • When should you sign up: As soon as possible. Seats are limited and we are already at 18% capacity with registration opening January 1.
    • Who’s Invited: Everyone (yet we will not have childcare for this event). Come and bring your teenager or preteen.

    Godly confidence is for everyone!!

    Christian Dating 101

Dating 101: This is in response to an article I read this weekend from a Christian man telling other men to just keep pursuing a woman if she seems disinterested-just try harder. Stalking (endless unwanted pursuit) is not love.

Maybe when men pursue women have no clue what is happening. I have found this true in my life. Why? I am direct. I am not passive nor hint. I also don’t play games, nor operate with hidden motives. Men have tried playing games with me, and I only play games with little children. 🙂 or they have been very ambiguous and well I don’t do well with people who do not communicate clearly. Or they have assumed unmarried means I am on the prowl for a man and they are the cure for my singleness. Well, no. I could be married, I chose not to get married and don’t enjoy men thinking they are my savior. They are not trying to pursue to add any value, they come as pushy consumers. I don’t like pushy nor find selfishness appealing.

Sometimes men give other men poor advice on women. Sometimes women give poor advice to other women. I truly believe God designed all relationships to be rooted in His agape love. Love that is not selfish, desperate, one sided, lustful, controlling, abusive, pushy nor stalker like. These are my top 5 for dating:

    1. Investigate why you want to pursue that person or relationship? Is it to be a blessing or to consume or meet selfish needs. People wrongly quote Paul, “Better to marry than burn in passion.” Paul was NOT encouraging marriage to cure lust. You can no more cure lust by getting married than cure alcoholism by going to a bar. Nor is it good to pursue someone to cure being lonely, avoid peer pressure, or fear of the biological clock. God gave Sarah a baby in her old age, God is not limited.

    2. Is there anything you are bringing to the table to add value? Would you be an asset or liability to someone? We can add value by asking God to refine our character. Beauty and money can fade. Godly character is priceless.

    3. Is the other person interested? This matters. If the person does not want you, leave them alone. They are not your puzzle piece or the timing is off. Continuing to pursue someone or pine over them when they do not want you can be emotionally toxic.

    4. Are you and the other person linked in purpose? They never want to leave the country and you are called to overseas missions. God is smart enough to link people headed the same direction. Sometimes people just get married off chemistry and the same beliefs, yet they are not headed towards the same destiny.

    5. Do you have compability outside loving Jesus? It takes more than the same faith to make relationships work. Are you spiritually compatible and do you mesh well outside of worship gatherings? Can you laugh together? Can you have fun together? Are you friends? Do you have anything in common? Do you have similiar vision?

Sometimes men are taught to just go after what they want without ever considering if the woman is interested. This is not wisdom. It’s actually selfish. Just wear her down with the pursuit. Ummm no. If she wants to be with you, she won’t keep running from you. Also every unmarried women is not desperate nor sees being single as a curse. Maybe asking God, “Is this woman someone I should pursue?” Or try being a friend with no super pressure to be your wife. Or state your intentions; “I like you, would like to get to know you better.”

Women can sometimes wrongly find identity in relationships with men or by being a mother. Some try to push this on other women. God does not tell us to find our identity in anyone other than God. Those who feel like they are nothing with someone have made an idol of man. If a woman pursues marriage to find herself, well if that man does not measure up or constantly validate her-she’s let down. God invites us to have one God. Women are also pressured to settle, have very low standards, and marry/have kids by a certain age. I think God would prefer people remain unmarried than marry out of selfishness/desperation.

I think it would wonderful if people had as their heart intention, “I want what is God’s best for this other person. God am I your very best for them? If so, show me how to love them as you do, how to add value to their life, and be a radical blessing.” For friendships, dating, or marriage-the world would be better if the hearts of people were rooted in God love. His love pursues to be a blessing.

What are your thoughts on dating?

    Growing in the Prophetic

Happy Growing in the Prophetic Sunday! (A Longer Post-Yet It Was Heavy On My Heart).

I love that God speaks. I love that God LOVES to communicate with us. I also love that Paul advises us to test all prophecies, not some prophecies-ALL prophecy to see if it is of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21).

In order to test something, there needs to be a plumb line [a], and I believe it is the word of God and the character of God. They cannot be separated; who God is and what is revealed in God’s word.

Scripture does not contain God, it reveals Him. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and the very best at helping us test things.

In a digital age where anyone can get online and state they have the word or a word from the Lord, it is imperative we test it all.

In an age where anyone can slap “Prophet” on their business card, it is imperative we test things. When the Lord spoke to me about being a prophet, I trembled. I did not want the job. Being honest. I did not tell anyone. I told no one…I was like, “Oh please don’t send me to talk to people.” Being honest-maybe why I like Moses so much. I simply started journaling what I sensed was from God and dating those things. I have 10+ years of prophetic journals. God spoke to me as a kid/young adult. It was not until the past 4-5 years other people started stating, “God has called you to be a prophet.” I did not tell them. I simply stayed in a place of “God teach me, shape me, mold me, deal with my character, teach me to love, help me to live out of intimacy with you, refine me, and lead me on the path of integrity and righteousness for your name’s sake. I want to possess and know your character.”

From the time of God speaking, to confirmation from others was roughly 14 years. Yep. 14 years of no one speaking anything over me. I would go to meetings and no one would have a word for me. I did not mind. I did hear God say, “I am teaching you to rely on my voice and not that of others.”

Being a prophet is not something to glory in, for we can boast of only one thing-Jesus Christ and His work. Every part of God’s Body has significant value and worth, each assignment is HIGHLY valuable. Prophets often endure interesting persecution and well humility is our best friend. I also think it is wise to ask God to refine us so what we speak truly is the voice of the Lord and not our own made up speech.

How can we test these things? What we hear, what we see, what we think is from God? How do we know what is simply bubbling up from our soul?

    1. Be a person of the word of God. Study with Holy Spirit. “God reveal your truth, by your Spirit.” God will not violate His word. He can violate our understanding, so study is important. “God you teach me,” not “I have always been taught this, so I know.”

    2. Understanding the character of God. God is LOVE. Even the rebukes of God are aimed at loving us. He is a surgeon, not a butcher. God does what He says He will do. God is faithful. God is not flakey, rude, wishy washy, crazy, double minded, hateful, pushy, proud, hyper critical, nor does God try to manipulate, control, humiliate, or force His will on us. God let’s us choose. I think this one get’s some people (the character of God). It’s so easy to say, “God said…” and just walk away like we are the authority in people’s lives. No, we are not. If God says something, God will do it. If we say it, just to get our way, or try to hurt someone or make ourselves look good, then God is not obligated to do any of it. Before we say, “God said,” taking time to test it and wait. God is not impatient.

    God is this really you?

God does this reflect your heart?

God is this the right timing or setting to release this word?

    God I would like confirmation.

Does this reflect love to the other person?

Does this violate scripture or their free will to choose?

Would I want this spoken over me?

Will this word draw the person closer to Jesus? Closer to the heart and character of Jesus?

Is this tainted with a critical spirit?

Pride and a critical spirit can be a detriment to a prophetic person or prophet. Continual yielding our hearts to God softens us and fills us with compassion and God love. Love and pride cannot occupy the same spaces. God love pushes out pride and thinks about what is best for the other person, not self. Pride is hyper focused on self. “Well I will get tell this person like it is!” with zero concern for the recipient. God thinks about the receiver of the message. God also does not need to manipulate anyone to get His way. God has no fear in Him. Control and manipulation are fruits of fear.

It can seem powerful and bold to just blurt out everything we think is God. Yet wisdom says, “Let me pause and see if this is really God or my flesh/soul.” The soul can evoke some feelings that make it seem like it’s on point with God and it’s not. I heard a great story from Kris Vallotton. He said he became excited in a meeting and gave this man a wonderful word. Later that evening, as he was lying on his bed, the Lord spoke to him, “Kris, that was a great word you gave that man.” Kris replied, “That was your word Lord!” God replied, “No, that was you.”

Intimacy with God helps us to grow in the prophetic. Revelation is a byproduct of intimacy. As we abide in Jesus, rest in Jesus, listen to Jesus…we begin to release the aroma and heart of Jesus when we speak. He beckons us into His heart. True prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. It points to the very nature of Jesus, the character of Jesus, the love of Jesus. It is more than providing information, it is a relationship building tool to help us and others connect with the heart of God. Before we say, “God said,” may there be an investigation-“Is this aligned with God’s heart.”

[a] A cord weighted with lead that is used in building to check that vertical structures are true. It is used symbolically to refer to the divine standard against which God, the builder of his people, tests and judges them. It also symbolizes the standards by which God will rebuild his people.

Zec 1:16; Zec 4:9-10 Using the plumb-line Zerubbabel will carry out his God-given task of building the temple. See also Jer 31:38-40; Zec 2:1-2

Prophecy is Supposed to Connect People to a Loving Father

Prophecy 101: God Speaks to Build Connection/Initimacy (Knowing Him), Not Just Relay Information. Prophets Do Not Just Give Info, They Are Supposed to Connect People With the Heart and Will of A Loving Father.

Jesus did what He saw the Father doing and said what He heard the Father saying. Jesus is the perfect model for a prophet. He is the prophet. True prophesy invites people into a heart to heart and spirit to Spirit connection. Fortune tellers just provide information. Prophets release an invitation for heaven to invade the heart of a person.

God has been and will always be looking for a relationship with humanity; a personal, intimate relationship. Part of relationship is communication. God spoke the world into creation. When God truly speaks, no word from Him ever fails, it accomplishes everything it is sent out to do (Isaiah 55:11). God does not speak half hazardly. God has a purpose behind every single thing that He says.

One of the purposes of His voice is to build connection. God loves intimacy. God loves connecting His heart to our heart. God is after the heart. Throughout the old and new testament we see prophets given insight into the heart of God for His people. Even His words of rebuke were aimed at reconnecting the heart of the sinful to a loving God. Repent so you can be reconciled to God. The message over and over has been, humanity needs God. God does not need us, God wants us. We need God.

God sent prophets to reveal His desire for people to turn from disconnection (sin), to Him for reconnection and abiding in love. For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son so whosoever will repent and believe in Him may have eternal life.

God sent prophets when the people were going astray, following idols, headed for destruction, and to proclaim the will of the Lord. Warnings came through prophets because God likes to give people an opportunity to turn or prepare before disaster comes.

I see in the person of Jesus a prophet who came in great love and compassion. He ministered in a way unlike any other who walked this earth. He goal was not demonstrations of great power, wisdom, or knowledge. It was to connect people to a God who loved them, it was to reveal God’s heart for the world. He stated, “I did not come to condemn (pass final judgement on the world). I came to save the world (give the world an opportunity to repent and be reconciled to the Father).” There will be a final judgement, every person including the believer will give an account to a holy God for their lives.

Part of the role of a believer, according to Apostle Paul is to be ministers of reconciliation. We want to see people right with God and connected to His heartbeat.

    2 Corinthians 5:16b-21 (ESV)

Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Prophecy is one of the vehicles God uses to connect people with His heart and will. It is not just sharing random info or speaking from our soul. God has a purpose for everything He says and does. If you look closely it relates to relationship and connection.

Are our prophetic words drawing people into a deeper connection with the heart of God for them? Is it helping them connect with the heart of God and hear from God for themselves? Are people growing in intimacy with God? Is anyone being drawn to loving repentance and a shift in the mindset to match God? Is Jesus exalted? Does anyone see and encounter the Father?

If the answer to each of those questions is no, then we may have missed God altogether and are functioning out of the soul or flesh.

I have encountered numerous “prophets” in my day who have the spirit of slap on them, a critical spirit, lack discernment, or are reckless. Whatever they think comes out of their mouth with God said attached to it.

These are some things I teach in the classes on the prophetic.

    1. God longs to connect with the heart of the person. Filter out what you want to see happen for them and focus on His heart. All the gifts are to flow through love (see 1 Corinthians 13 and 14). The love chapter is in between two chapters focused on spiritual gifts.

    2. It’s not about drawing people to us or being a pipeline to God for them, it is about drawing people to Jesus and them learning to discern Him, connect with Him for themselves.

    3. It needs weighed against the whole of scripture and the character of God. God is good. God is holy. God is love. God is not confused nor double minded.

I have met people who told me God told them to leave their spouse for another married person or not read the bible. Well NO! It is imperative to be students of the word and live in intimacy with God.

    4. God is not manipulative. He lets people choose. He loves a cheerful giver, not obligation.

I have seen people try to use Jesus to get people to do what they want. This is witchcraft. Witchcraft is about control. God does not seek to control people. The devil loves control. God does not need to manipulate anyone. He leads by love.

    5. Some things are to be spoken out and shared. Some are to be prayed over and not spoken.

I keep prophetic journals. I have since I was a kid. I date them. I have things in them that have never been shared with anyone. Some things were intercession items, some personal, and some the timing. It was not and is not the appropriate time to release information. God has perfect timing.

    6. Be accountable.

I think it’s good to follow up with people and ask them, “Did this resonate with you? Did this happen for you?” We grow by taking ownership of what we say and do. Paul also addressing order in the prophetic. We do not need to talk over people or be rude. Everyone can wait their turn. Feedback is our friend. Self control is our friend.

    7. God speaks life and impossibilities made possible.

Death speaking prophets concern me. “God is going to bankrupt you because you won’t give to my church!” “God says you are not going to be successful!!” I often scratch my head and wonder which “God” they are listening to??? Obviously God is petty, rude, selfish, and punishing. Ummmmm no! Sometimes people speak out of their own anger, critical spirit, jealousy and say it was God. If that’s you, repent. It may not hurt to go to the person you cursed and say, “I was not speaking for God. Will you forgive me? I retract my word cursing over you.”

I have been verbally vomited on by several professing prophets. The Holy Spirit will speak to my heart and spirit, “That’s not from me.” Sometimes it’s appropriate to tell the person, “I am not in agreement with what you said. Please do not speak like this over anyone else.” Sometimes they repent. Sometimes they tell you to not be offended or sensitive. Sometimes they break fellowship. Either way, God is not rude, hyper critical, nor a jerk.

    8. Discernment of Spirits is not the same as the gift of prophecy.

Some have discernment of spirits and think they are prophetic by running around calling out demons in or around people. Prophecy is supposed to be about connecting people with the heart and will of God. I can see dozens of demons in and around people or have Holy Spirit reveal their presence and not speak that out over a person. My job if they are in front of me is to love them and connect the person with the heart of God. If they need and want deliverance, that is something else that can be done without humiliating the person or word cursing them.

I had a lady who stated she was a prophet yet constantly saw and spoke out the dirt in people’s lives. She was so very negative. I pulled her aside once because she wanted to run from a demonized lady, mistreat her. I said no. I am not going to mistreat her because she is oppressed by demons. Jesus came to set captives free. I stayed and prayed with the lady. Not worried about being “slimed” as people say. Why? This was a person Jesus died for and speaking death over her is not Jesus. She had a wonderful encounter with Holy Spirit, the lady. The other woman cut ties with me later because I could not endure that critical spirit that constantly wanted to speak negativity over people and say it was God. “Oh God said you won’t have great relationships because your personality scares people.” Really? How is that edifying? It’s actually cursing people. She did not have the best personality herself. She was critical, abrasive, and rude in the name of Jesus-yet Jesus was and is none of those things.

To end this novel, prophecy is not just blabbering at the mouth. It is connection with a loving Father; to reveal His heart and will. God is not mean spirited. If you are called to be a prophet, one of my greatest encouragements is to ask God to reveal His heart. Once He does, seek to live out of His heart. Abide in His heart. Speak from His heart. Jesus did and I know no greater prophet.

The Love Filled Prophet vs. The Reckless Prophet

The Love Filled Prophet vs. The Reckless Prophet

I believe God speaks. I believe prophesy is the testimony of Jesus and when done by the Spirit of God, it glorifies Jesus. Over the years I have heard people diminish the love of God and words that build up to follow after and support harsh, critical, rude, reckless, and mean spirited “prophets.” I believe if anyone wants to see or know a perfect prophet, follow Jesus.

The word was made flesh and dwelt among us. The word of God is not simply contained in a leather bound book in writings of ink. The word of God is contained within a person, Jesus-the Son of God. Every word from God does not fail, it accomplishes all it is sent out to do (Isaiah 55:11). The word (Jesus) came and fulfilled everything He was sent to do.

Every God appointed prophet in the bible had an assignment and it was not to verbally abuse people. Nor was it to set up a fan club or look how powerful I am meeting. They came on a mission to reveal something about the Father. Who is God? God is overflowing with compassion and love, truth and justice, wisdom and power fueled by love. Even the rebukes of God are to lead people to a place of restoration. Condemnation flows from lack of receiving the Son/lack of repentance. No one comes to the Father except through the Son (John 14:6). The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23). God warns so we repent, in His kindness He notifies us when our actions are displeasing and destructive (Hebrews 12:6, Romans 2:4).

I see in the life of Jesus someone who not only spoke the words of the Father, and demonstrated His character, nature, and heart-I see someone willing to die for the people He had to correct and instruct. Jesus could flip over tables and be properly aligned with the Father because Jesus so loved those people He was going to demonstrate on a rugged cross He would pay for their sins. He who knew no sin became the atoning sacrifice for all sin (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Love was not something Jesus simply talked about in passing. Love was something Jesus demonstrated. He went to the cross and endured outrageous suffering to free sinful humanity. The one who has the highest name, also got low and washed feet (John 13:1-17).

Love is not telling people what they want to hear nor watering down what God says. It is choosing to abide in a place of truth telling in great love, because we want people aligned with God-we want them connected to the heart of the Father.

Prophesy is not just giving people information. True prophesy should connect people with the very heartbeat of God. Jesus did this. He revealed the Father.

The reckless prophet can be like a bull in a china shop or a butcher. The desire is simply to share perceived revelation without regard for the audience. The “prophesy” can lack tact, love, compassion, wisdom, and grace.

Surgeons cut to preserve life. Butchers cut to destroy life. Prophets are called to be surgeons, not butchers.

The reckless prophet can desire their voice to be heard regardless of how it impacts a meeting or person. Instead of waiting and listening, there can be a pressure to just insert information. The goal is not connecting a person to the heart if the Father, the mission of the Father, it’s just to be heard.

The reckless prophet can partner with a critical spirit and believe they are speaking for God. Sometimes their words are cursing people instead of blessing. We are told to bless and not curse; to build up and not destroy. If we need to correct someone, we are to move in a spirit of humility and gentleness, knowing without the grace of God we could be in a bad place.

The reckless prophet can buck accountability and correction. They are the pipeline to God. Everything is, “Well God told me,” instead of submitting what is thought to be God to testing, weighing, and correction. “God told me,” can be an excuse for rudeness, lack of tact, selfishness, or lack of order. The reckless prophet may attempt to use God as a scapegoat. True prophets will submit to be tested, corrected, and held accountable.

The reckless prophet may develop relationships where they become Holy Spirit for others. People depend on their voice instead of Gods personal connection. True prophets seek to help people hear God for themselves.

The reckless prophet may only focus on one aspect of who God is instead of the whole. Yes God is merciful, kind, and loving. God will also on the final day judge all of humanity for their choices. His justice is a part of His character. It does not make people the judge, God is. The prophet is simply to represent God’s heart and voice, not become God for the people. Jesus said what He heard the Father saying, and did what He saw the Father doing. He did not come to pass final judgement on the world; He came to give people the opportunity to receive Him, repent, and be restored. Final assessment comes much later.

Jesus is the perfect model of a prophet and of God. Jesus was not reckless. He operated out of great love, truth, justice, and compassion. Jesus did not have the spirit of slap on Him. He overflowed with agape love (sacrificial, unselfish, passionate love). Jesus spoke with wisdom. Those He rebuked, He did it with great love. Jesus was not passive, passive aggressive, nor aggressive. Jesus was not controlling, manipulative, nor critical. He spoke the very heart of the Father. He demonstrated the very heart of the Father. He came to represent heaven well.

    Warmly,

The Responsible Prophet (Revelation Series Part III)

God speaks. I love that God speaks through His written word and also to our hearts/minds/spirits. The things we hear or sense in our mind, heart, or spirit still need tested and weighed against the character, nature, and word of God. God has incredible things to say, this does not mean that we simply run rouge with what we think is God. It requires some wisdom and self control.

I have seen in meetings prophetic people just take over, speak over others, snatch microphones, and behave in ways that are absolutely ungodly. Some believe their word from the Lord is the most important. In actuality, God is a God of order. God is not a God of confusion, chaos, or crazy. God is also not disrespectful nor dishonoring.

Paul addressed the conduct of believers in the church at Corinth. They were struggling with issues in their services. He had the following to say:

Guidelines for Use of the Gifts

1 Corinthians 14:26-33 (The Passion Translation)

Beloved friends, what does all this imply? When you conduct your meetings, you should always let everything be done to build up the church family. Whether you share a song of praise, a teaching, a divine revelation, or a tongue and interpretation, let each one contribute what strengthens others.

If someone speaks in a tongue, it should be two or three, one after another, with someone interpreting. If there’s no one with the interpretation, then he should remain silent in the meeting, content to speak to himself and to God.

And the same with prophecy. Let two or three prophets prophesy and let the other prophets carefully evaluate and discern what is being said.

But if someone receives a revelation while someone else is still speaking, the one speaking should conclude and allow the one with fresh revelation the opportunity to share it. For you can all prophesy in turn and in an environment where all present can be instructed, encouraged, and strengthened.

Keep in mind that the anointing to prophesy doesn’t mean that the speaker is out of control-he can wait his turn. For God is the God of harmony, not confusion, as is the pattern in all the churches of God’s holy believers.

Any person who believes God is speaking, can wait their turn. They can listen to others. They can take time to address their word before releasing it to others. I have held on to things until God gave me permission to release and when it was released, the person stated the timing was perfect.

    God is not pushy.

    God is not hurried.

    God is not wreckless.

    God is not dishonoring.

    God is not crazy.

God is not the author of confusion.

    God is not chaotic.

    God is not a lunatic.

God is not abusive, nor does God seek to embarrass or humiliate people.

Over the years I have encountered some pretty irresponsible prophets and prophetic people. I have rebuked a few for publicly humiliating people, misrepresenting God, being harmful and prophesying out of their woundedness. We will give an account to God for our words. We will give an account to God for how we stewarded His gifts and people.

If we think something is from God, we can pause and ask:

    • Does this align with the character and word of God?
    • Is this going to draw anyone closer to the heartbeat of God?
    • Will people be edified or convicted in a good way?
    • Is this coming from my soul (mind, will, emotions) or truly from God?
    • If my words are to cut away something, am I like a surgeon or butcher? (Surgeons cut to heal; butchers cut to destroy).
    • Am I giving people an opportunity to weigh and test what I say?
    • Is my heart overflowing with love? Out of the heart the mouth speaks.
    • Am I operating in honor and order or disorder and dishonor?

I try to check in with people after words are given. Does this resonate with you? Or even check in later to see if the word was applicable/came to pass. I believe it helps us to gain feedback instead of just saying, “Thus sayeth the Lord! You must receive whatever I just verbally spoke over you.” It is helpful to give people room to test what we think we are sensing from God. Then they can come back and say, “Yes, that resonated with me,” or “That’s new.”

We are not God. We yield to God. I think it’s imperative we honor the role of the prophetic. It is not to be a God substitute, it is to draw people closer to God. Nor are prophets to be rude, unruly, chaotic, unloving, and crazy. God is love. If our gifts are not flowing from genuine love, then we are missing the point of ministry. Jesus was moved with love and compassion. He was not crazy, irresponsible, rude, nor unbecoming.

1 Corinthians 13:1-8 The Passion Translation (TPT)

Love, the Motivation of Our Lives

If I were to speak with eloquence in earth’s many languages, and in the heavenly tongues of angels,[yet I didn’t express myself with love, my words would be reduced to the hollow sound of nothing more than a clanging cymbal.

And if I were to have the gift of prophecy with a profound understanding of God’s hidden secrets, and if I possessed unending supernatural knowledge, and if I had the greatest gift of faith that could move mountains, but have never learned to love, then I am nothing.

And if I were to be so generous as to give away everything I owned to feed the poor, and to offer my body to be burned as a martyr, without the pure motive of love, I would gain nothing of value.

Love is large and incredibly patient.

Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance.

Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.

God may we walk in love and wisdom. When we speak to others, may they hear your voice uncontaminated. May we be those who speak life, edify, build up, and walk in honor.

    Love,

    Erin Lamb

Study the Bible with God (Revelation Series Part I)

Welcome to the revelation series! In a culture of believe what someone wrote on the internet, I invite people to study the bible and know God for themselves.

We have internet prophets, pastors, leaders, and some in churches who misrepresent God’s heart and character. What they say is taken as truth instead of what God said. There are entire movements that are centered around lies. There is a current movement of there is no hell and everyone goes to heaven. This is false. I give you some words of Jesus.

Jesus Warns of Pretenders (Matthew 7:21-27 The Passion Translation)

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the realm of heaven’s kingdom. It is only those who persist in doing the will of my heavenly Father. On the day of judgment many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, don’t you remember us? Didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we cast out demons and do many miracles for the sake of your name?’ But I will have to say to them, ‘Go away from me, you lawless rebels! I’ve never been joined to you!’

“Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation.

“But everyone who hears my teaching and does not apply it to his life can be compared to a foolish man who built his house on sand. When it rained and rained and the flood came, with wind and waves beating upon his house, it collapsed and was swept away.”

Jesus spoke that He is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

Those who live lawless have no place in God’s Kingdom. You may read even more in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. God makes it very clear throughout all of scripture that not everyone will inherit the Kingdom of God. Despite the status of a person, pastor, or leader they are not higher than Jesus or the Father.

We could save ourselves loads of deception by reading, studying the bible for ourselves.

Another movement that has been going on for ages is the diminishment of women in the church and her role. I will dissect this in another post, yet highly recommend reading Why Not Women?

You may check it out on Amazon here: Why Not Women?.

I oversee a women’s mentoring and discipleship group. The focus for three months of mentoring was revelation, the prophetic, discernment, and knowing the voice of God for yourself. It is imperative that we take the things given to us and weigh, test them against the word of God.

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world,~1 John 4:1.

Some of the greatest deceptions arise out of a twisting God’s word (what Satan did to Eve in the Garden, Jesus in the wilderness), straight up lies that contradict the Bible yet people take what someone said, what they saw or heard, or had in a dream or vision and held it in higher regard than the word of God. God does not work in chaos. If the bible says do not lie, steal, or cheat, then God means it and it does not change because a “pastor” or “prophet” said something different. It does not matter what they dreamed or heard. If it contradicts God’s word, it’s not God.

Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you,~Galatians 1:8.

It is also possible to take the Bible out of context or misunderstand the Bible and create a deceptive teaching. It is imperative to know the following:

    1. Who is the author speaking to in the passage?
    2. What was occurring in the culture?
    3. Is the author speaking to the global church or a particular audience?
    4. What did the original text say? Some words in Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic have different meanings than the english words.
    5. Does our understanding fit the rest of Scripture? Are there other parts of the bible that seem to contradict the verse or our understanding of the verse?
    6. Looking at various translations is there a difference? I like the NKJV, Amplified, Passion Translation. I do not like the NIV because they removed vital parts of scripture.

I also read the commentaries and compare them and look up words in the original language. Here’s an example. Eve is called an Ezer Kenegdo, which means “an equal but opposite complement who provides strength.” Yet some translations call her a helpmate. Helpmate does not mean quite the same as one who is an equal but opposite compliment who provides strength.

Victor Hamilton puts it: “[Kenegdo] suggests that what God creates for Adam will correspond to him. Thus the new creation will be neither a superior nor an inferior, but an equal. The creation of this helper will form one-half of a polarity and will be to man as the South Pole is to the North Pole” (emphasis added).

She will be his strongest ally in pursing God’s purposes and his first roadblock when he veers off course.

Long before I started digging, scholars tallied up the twenty-one times ezer appears in the Old Testament: twice in Genesis for the woman (Genesis 2:18, 20), three times for nations to whom Israel appealed for military aid (Isaiah 30:5; Ezekiel 12:14; Daniel 11:34), and here’s the kicker — sixteen times for God as Israel’s helper (Exodus 18:4; Deuteronomy 33:7, 26, 29; Psalms 20:2; 33:20; 70:5; 89:19 [translated “strength”]; 115:9, 10, 11; 121:1 – 2; 124:8; 146:5; Hosea 13:9).

    Source: Ezer Unleashed

I want us to become students of the word of God and question what does not make sense. I want us to ask the Holy Spirit to teach us His word. I want us to be ones who take what is given to us and test it and weigh it against the word of God and the character of God. May you and I know God for ourselves!

Here’s to the new series! Praying for you.

    Love in Christ,

    Erin Lamb
