For the Unmarried

For the unmarried…

There is so much pressure to be coupled up with someone, especially in Christian culture. I have heard people get in pulpits and preach marriage is the best thing, not God-marriage.

God doesn’t take a second chair to anyone or anything He created. If marriage is loved, desired, exalted above a relationship with God it’s an idol. The best love relationship we could ever have comes from God.

So here is my encouragement to you!

1. You are not half a person without a spouse.

2. God is not waiting to send a spouse for you to do mighty exploits for Him. He loves you individually and has amazing plans for you whether married or unmarried.

3. You are loved, not incomplete, and not alone. Holy Spirit is with every born again believer, as is Jesus-Father God. His covenant is eternal, marriage does not exist in heaven between man & woman.

4. God connects people for mutual blessing and matched vision. He withholds nothing good.

5. Married to the wrong person is FAR worse than single. Trust from someone who has seen many on the side of devastation, abuse, divorce, pain, heartache.

6. It takes more than physical attraction and both loving Jesus to build a relationship. Talk about vision, destiny, money, caring for parents, expectations, dreams. How can two be joined lest they agree?

7. Hormone highs diminish. So those who marry for self gratification, lust, and not a desire to agape (sacrificial, unconditional, unselfish) love will find they fall out of love. God says choose love.

8. Not every person presenting a happy marriage is blissfully happy. Do not let Social Media (SM) or what people say sway you. I knew of many unhappy, tormented married people posting their undying love on SM.

9. Talk to God. He knows what your desires, wants, and needs are. He is perfect at matchmaking.

10. Instead of praying, “Lord send me,” or searching everywhere for someone, how about praying “Lord prepare me. Make me into someone who is a tremendous blessing to someone. Cleanse me. Teach me agape love.”

11. If marriage is your heart desire, pray for that person in advance. Can not hurt.

12. Know God is 100% good. You do not have to settle when your Father is so good.

Lord I ask for Your love, peace, power, and purity to shower every single, widdowed, divorced person. I bind any spirits of pressure, shame, bondage, deception, disappointment, fear, or unbelief. I loose peace and truth for the days to come. Lord You are trustworthy. You can be trusted with every desire. I ask that every desire will be placed before You. I pray the greatest desire be for You. I bless each one with purity, love, comfort, and intimacy with You. In Jesus mighy name. Amen.

Jesus told him, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,~Matthew 22:37.

We were made to worship and we all worship something!

We will become like the one we worship,~Bill Johnson.

The Gods we worship write their names on our faces; be sure of that. And a man will worship something … That which dominates will determine his life and character. Therefore it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming,~Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I’m quite passionate about worship. I’m passionate about worshipping God, giving Him honor, love, praise, thanks, devotion, and all of my life. It sounds overboard, but He’s everything. I’m often consumed with thoughts of Him. It hasn’t always been that way and though I love Him, there are still some days I’m lost in my own thoughts or zoned out from fatigue.

This new series on worship will hopefully draw us both into deeper intimacy with God! There’s always more with God.

Worship is so important. It’s so important it was coveted by Lucifer and he’s spent his days trying to divert worship away from God. If he cannot get people to worship him directly, he attempts to lure people to worship themselves or created things. We live in a world where beauty, youth, sex, fitness, relationships, entertainment, social media, status, money, music, food, family, wealth, celebrities, fame, children, even pastors, churches, and ministry are worshipped over God.

Social media is a good place to see the idols of our day. The things we talk about, gravitate towards,…show what we deem worthy of our time, devotion, and praise.

The problem with worshipping created things is that it’s idolatry. It’s caused all kinds of problems for people. It angered God with the Israelites and many others we can learn from in the Bible.

Oh those pesky idols…

Our idols cannot save us. They enslave us. Only the worship of God frees us.

The worship of money makes us greedy.

The worship of food makes us glutenous and often obese.

The worship of fitness, youth, and beauty makes us vain.

The worship of pleasure and comfort makes us addicts.

The worship of people makes us slaves to their opinions.

The worship of self makes us selfish.

All our “gods” do is provide empty cisterns that never fulfill us. They keep us coming back for more and more and we are never satisfied. Idols keep us in a cycle of perpetual discontentment.

I know something has taken the wrong place in my heart when I can say to God, “I will be happy when…” Fill in the blank. It’s great to ask God for things, yet when things become the source of contentment, there’s a problem. One of the idols I constantly have to cast down is comfort. I don’t like suffering. I feel as though in my short time on earth, I’ve endured my share. When being comfortable becomes more important than honoring God, I’ve placed comfort above Him. He frequently draws me out of comfort into unsure waters. It’s not fun, but He is Lord. He’s number one, above me. He also empowers whatever He calls me to do.

Lastly, this series isn’t intended to bring condemnation, but to hopefully reveal the joy in worshipping God. Theres no condemnation for those who are in Christ.

There’s great blessing in worshipping Him. He’s worthy! I hope you stay tuned as we investigate God’s worth.

Father, we live in a world full of distractions and temptations to worship something or someone other than You. Please help us to worship You in Spirit and in truth. Deepen our awareness of Your love and the beauty of Your presence. Amen.

Key to Happiness

Key to Happiness

By Erin Lamb

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand, Psalm 16:11.

If they obey and serve Him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment, Job 36:11.

It seems like everywhere you look people are looking for ways to be happy. Most of the time the happiness is linked to something external. If I had this job, then I would be happy. If I lost weight, then I would be happy. If I looked different, then I would be happy. If I had this person, then I would be happy. If I could get married, then I would be happy. If I could get rid of my spouse, then I would be happy. If I had more money, then I would be happy. If I had all my dreams come true, then I would be happy. If I could only have ….., then I would be happy. Well the Bible tells us something different. The Bibles says that contentment and joy come through obedience to God and by being in His presence. I am not saying that the externals don’t make a difference, they do! I am saying that the externals provide temporary relief to an underlying heart issue.

Have you ever begged God for something, then after you had it for awhile realized it didn’t fulfill you? That’s because God is the only source of lasting joy and happiness. He remains constant and steady when all of life is in chaos. He is the only tried and true, 100 percent guaranteed source of security, life, hope, and enduring love. NOTHING can replace Him. Yes, at first the things we run to, cling to, and beg for provide some fuel for our happy tank. However, once the thrill is gone and our tank is depleted, we find that we are off searching for a new fix. If God is not the ultimate source of our happiness (relationship with Him), then nothing He can give us will truly satisfy. We will cling to what the Bible refers to as empty cisterns. They provide temporary relief. If money solved all the problems in the world we wouldn’t have so many millionaires with messy lives. If being with another person solved all the problems, then we wouldn’t have so many divorces and relational breakups. The truth is, God made us for Him. He is the best thing to ever happen to us. If we are content in Him, then the externals are simply the cherry on the cake. He’s so good that He is the cake and the frosting too.

My prayer for us (me and you) is that we seek His face and not His hand. He gives really good gifts and wants to exceed our expectations in this life as well as eternity. However, He never wants the gifts to replace love for Him. He wants us to give thanks for what we have, even if it seems like a little because somewhere there is someone who is worse off than we are. Giving thanks also leads to happiness because we realize that God does not give us what we deserve which would’ve been wrath and destruction, instead He gave us Himself. He gave us life. He continues to give us love. He wants a deep intimate relationship with us. He wants to be first in our lives. He knows no other person or thing can do for us what He can.

Closing prayer:

“Abba I pray that our happy button would be connected to You, the only source of lasting joy! Only You can complete us, fill us, love us to overflow. Only You can provide lasting happiness. You are the source that never runs dry. You are perfect. Your ways are perfect. May we rest our hearts on Yours. Thanks for all you do and have done. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.”

Run Your Race

Run Your Race

By Erin Lamb

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning it’s shame and sat down at the right hand of the Father, Hebrews 12:2.

I keep pursuing the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly call in the Messiah Jesus, Philippians 3:14.

Be happy with the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart, Psalm 37:4.

The words God keeps pressing into my heart are, “Keep your eyes on Me, believe in and through Me you can do anything, and be ready for Me to exceed your wildest dreams.” So many times we are focused on what other people are doing or what God is doing for them instead of fixing our eyes on Jesus. He has a purpose for each of us individually to be here. He wants us to find ourselves, our identity, our security, our hope, our life in Him before He blesses us with great things. I love the wisdom of Bill Johnson and he said something that I had to write down. He said, “Sometimes the call God has on your life is so great, sometimes the gifts He has for you are so significant, that He will not give them to you until your character is able to withstand the weight of them.” We see people who have things come to them easily and quickly, however I know from engineering that anything that is built without a strong foundation, considering the cost and upkeep, without wisdom, etc…comes tumbling down when the storms come.

God is making you into someone who looks like His Son. He will withhold nothing good from you. Are you willing to fix your eyes on Him? Not on stuff, not on relationships, not on the gifts, but on the gift giver. Is God alone enough?

What if Jesus had not spent 30 years being obedient to God and His parents, learning submission to authority before entering ministry? What if Jesus would have chosen His own way instead of God’s way? What would happen in our lives if we firmly fixed our eyes on the One who commands the winds and the waves to be still? What would happen if we were all so sold out to the work of the Kingdom that God’s agenda was our agenda? I believe we would change the world!

So my beautiful friends, may we fix our eyes on Jesus! May we run this race without looking to the left or to the right to see who is ahead, who is behind. May we find contentment in God alone, seeking His face and not just His hand. May we (you and I) transform the world because the greater One lives in us. We can do even greater things than Jesus, according to Him. Jesus modeled what one person could do who was rightly related to the Father (paraphrase of Bill Johnson). We are here to show the world what God is like. We can do that, if we fix our eyes on Him.

Have a beautiful, blessed, and amazing day. I carry you in my prayers and in my heart! You are deeply loved.

God is good…all the time and He has great (no amazing) plans for your life. ☺
